Today's Jumble

P701iD.jpg

What a crazy accident that this sleek, white cell phone's product number contains the letters i-P-0-D!

This is highly significant. I think it might be well worth looking for other conspiracy-type "accidents" just waiting to happen when we jumble up letters. For instance, some anagrams of "TERMINAL DECLINE" are:

AI Dell increment (clearly a reference to Japan's slow start in computing), am derelict Lenin (scotching the theory that Japan has "communist capitalism"), mince near tilled (the threat of homosexuality in Japanese agriculture?), men recline tidal (tsunami warning?), mail net reclined (the danger of spending disposable income on cellphones rather than cultural goods), lied manic relent (media cover-ups), interlace mild, ne? (a reference to the yakuza-controlled porn industry), and idle lament nicer (the pleasures of habitual criticism).

Don't forget the word "Nine".

バカ野郎!

It's just unfortunate that you value the physical wrapper more than the product itself...

And that you conceal superficial behavior with nonsensical academic rhetoric.

You’re just as sleazy as a low ball pervert, except you gild yourself with superiority. But, then again, that’s the reason why a Ph. D. in French Literature rebuffed you, and told you the same.

Yep, he's truly lost it.

Are you a Momus victim?

I'd like to think my site's an anti-Marxy site, not an anti-Momus site, so knock it off. If you want to make fun of my post, go for it. Otherwise, there's always Click Opera.

I noticed the same when I saw this ad.
Definitely intentional.

Have to agree -- I did a double-take at this poster. The word i P O D is barely concealed, working on everyone who glances at it.

The phone's music functions are a major selling point:

Any wagers on what will be the first keitai/MP3 player released in Japan? There hasn't been one yet, correct?

Posted by: jasong at October 18, 2005 2:20 PM

how do you mean? Mine plays mp3s. damned if I've ever used that function, but...

I'm still waiting for them to build a phone that actually gets reception in my apartment.

Posted by: marxy at October 18, 2005 3:52 PM

I thought AU was typically pretty strong.
My vodafone reception is dissapointing, especilally in any basement situation.

(...really killing time here at work...)

For some reason, AU is the only phone that will moderately work in my house, and I usually have to step up to the window or find the weird, shifting sweet spot at the head of my bed.
