A Small Amount of Interest
I just noticed that my Japanese bank paid me exactly 1 yen in interest for the year. I promise not to spend it all in once place.

A whole Yen? You must have a hell of alot more in your bank account than I do.

If you had 10-man in a postal savings account for a year, they'd give you 30 yen back. Interest rates are 0.03%... At the moment my transactions account in Australia gives me 175 times that (5250 yen).
Who knows, maybe the merger between UFJ and Tokyo-Mitsubishi will improve things.

My NYC checking account eats $3 a month, so gaining a yen is better than paying.
