Hot.

So to be clear, 樺美智子 died during student protests of the America-Japan security treaty?

Posted by: Carl at November 27, 2006 1:49 PM

Come on, Marxy, fix your type on that first song. Your hierarchy is confusing!

But, graphic design issues aside, this is excitin'! Yay!

as i'm downloading in anticipation the image of a chilled out kurt cobain who's watched all the oshima nagisa movies made before 1974 on the akashic records comes to mind.

It just looks messy, what with things changing sizes and being in quotation marks and switching between left justified indented and centered. Everything on your page is always very clean looking and goes together nicely, but that section seems dissonant. It's hard to figure out how all the information relates to each other. (I should clarify that there are no true errors like spelling mistakes or anything - it's subjective and admittedly kind of picky.)

Personally, I liked how Marxy was busting a little "dissonance" on the typography.

the typography is fine, looks nice even.

Gosh, I must be a really big fan of Marxy; I downloaded this ep not only once but twice! (one copy is for the cat)

Posted by: dzima at November 27, 2006 9:47 PM

For a moment I read the title as "Beards In Disarray" and thought he'd gone all "New Weird America" on us.

Posted by: Momus at November 27, 2006 10:59 PM

the other day i was rocking (as in wearing) my "music related" t-shirt..
and one of my clients thought it said "music retarded".
i'm pretty sure next time i make one, i'll make the "music retarded" version. i love miss readings.

Posted by: trevor at November 28, 2006 8:21 AM

At first I thought the title was Beuys In Disarray, a sign that marxy would start to give a shamanistic twist to his ideas from now on.

Posted by: dzima at November 28, 2006 9:44 AM

I thought it was "Bo Knows Disarray."

Posted by: Rory P. Wavekrest at November 28, 2006 10:11 AM

If anyone is interested, the original lyric is a pun on

while your bow's in disarray

and

while your beau's in disarray

It's a Southern thing. You wouldn't understand.

Posted by: marxy at November 28, 2006 10:22 AM

Like a fine mint julip?

Posted by: Rory P. Wakekrest at November 28, 2006 10:56 AM

Bose in this array...

Posted by: Duffy at November 28, 2006 11:04 AM

More synth in this, Ray.

Posted by: Duffy at November 28, 2006 11:05 AM

I'd like to play it for a friend. Maybe send him/her a copy, too. If it's okay.

Posted by: scott at November 28, 2006 11:41 AM

Permitted. Tis the glory of the Internet.

Posted by: marxy at November 28, 2006 11:52 AM

will there be a real label/real record release at some point?

Posted by: shubba at November 28, 2006 2:47 PM

Why is a "web label" not a "real label"? Because you got the mp3s directly from a website instead of ripping them from a CD you bought?

For those Old Folks out there, the upcoming album will be on a "real label" (read: CDs).

Posted by: marxy at November 28, 2006 2:52 PM

A CD-R burned from free mp3s, right...

Posted by: Rory P. Wakekrest at November 28, 2006 2:57 PM

while your beau's in disarray

no but i'm hell starting to fathom the depth of the lynchean link between marxy's furusato and the japanese proto-left. (乱れ髪 aka 'beards in dissaray')

fun parallel. can't say i was referencing that book.

Finland <3 Marxy

Posted by: Aleksi at November 28, 2006 4:45 PM

I just ate at a Finish restaurant last week. We love Finland! (Or at least at the Japanese culinary equivalent.)

Posted by: marxy at November 28, 2006 5:03 PM

Shouldn't it be 'beaux in disarray'?

Posted by: mitsuko at November 28, 2006 11:05 PM

momus disarray

Posted by: Edwina Samsa at November 28, 2006 11:10 PM

Re: beaux in disarray

In French perhaps. Beaus and beaux are both acceptable in English.

Posted by: marxy at November 28, 2006 11:56 PM

Yeah, exactly, I like to own/hold the CD. If a 'web label' suits you, cool, I was just interested in knowing if it would be possible to buy it through more traditional channels because I'm Old and Behind The Times.

Posted by: shubba at November 29, 2006 12:29 AM

Dl'd the tracks this morning and listened to the ep twice consecutively while making breakfast and getting ready for the day. Very enjoyable! Extra props for the black lodge backmasking on trk 2! That chewing gum you like is going to come back in style...

Posted by: Laotree at November 29, 2006 1:37 AM

so, all you guys/gals who want a physical CDs.
since i'm going to run with you don't wanna give me 1200 USD$ to press it up.. for your 1 copy..
you can, go buy music related's most recent release's..
the new, debut CD by ST "people i barely know" is good.
and Aus's "sonorapid", also good.
the more of those i sell, the sooner i can get to marxy!

Great production. Im looking forward to seeing if the full album has a more "fleshed out" feeling. Thank you for the music!

Posted by: jed at November 29, 2006 3:11 AM

Re: "fleshed out" feeling

It does!

Posted by: marxy at November 29, 2006 8:09 AM

By the by, anyone interested in seeing video clips of student riots of the time can find plenty on YouTube. I posted a number of them on another site. The URL of that forum isn't to everyone's taste so I won't link directly here. If you google for "Japanese Riot Videos", though, you'll see the relevant link near the top.

Love your music! I was so excited for it to be released, I kept checking creation centre's website. Not a dissappointment at all, I especially love "Several Pieces".

Posted by: Yatenkaiouh at December 1, 2006 10:20 AM

Still a fan

Posted by: Jesper Larsson at December 9, 2006 12:18 AM

I've been reading Neomarisme for a while, but this is the first time I've heard your music and for some reason I thought it was going to be "experimental" or something less than accessiable. However, I was very pleasantly surprised-I didn't expect acoustic guitars and vocals. I am looking forward to the full length release. Keep it up.

Posted by: MC at December 9, 2006 2:19 PM

I "experiment" with pop structure, but don't take out the pop.

The full-length will be less raw/acoustic.
