down with myspace

i have "shut down" my myspace page. not literally, as in deleted it. but i took everything off it. and will not be interacting with it anymore.
please leave your comments on my blog if you so wish. i would love to hear from people still. i just can not support myspace.
though in a horribly ironic twist. the music related myspace page will still stay someone active. acepting and delcilining friends as normal. and some music as needed.. but no blog or anything much. visit the music related page for music related info.
you should get off myspace too well your thinking about it.

shut down myspace

Hey, I have found a lot of evil stuff myspace has been doing:
1) They don't make it easy to find their privacy policy. In fact it took me a month to find it. But here is part of their TOS:

"In order to participate in certain MySpace Services, you may be notified that you are required to download software or content and/or agree to additional terms and conditions. Unless otherwise provided by the additional terms and conditions applicable to the MySpace Services in which you choose to participate, those additional terms are hereby incorporated into this Agreement. You may receive a copy of this Agreement by emailing us at: privacy@MySpace.com, Subject: Terms of Use Agreement."

I sent them an email everyday for 2 weeks, from several different e-mail accounts just to make sure I wasn't being blocked somehow and never got a reply.

2) They don't remove spammers, they charge them:

"...As a reasonable estimation of such harm, you agree to pay MySpace.com $50 for each such unsolicited email or other unsolicited communication you send through the MySpace Services..."

Most services remove spammers and want to have nothing to do with them. Myspace just found a way to make money off of them

3) There was some illegal practices that they where doing: (FYI Intermix was bought by News Corp. I.E. Rupert Murdock, Fox Network, USA Network, and lots more)

“In 2005, New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer accused Intermix of deceptive business practices, including the use of spyware that delivered pop-up adverts and redirected users to its search engine. Intermix agreed to pay $7.9m to settle the suit but did not admit wrongdoing.” - Taken from http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4695495.stm
